I think that the problem must be with DKMS. I am using graphics drivers
that rely on it, and the problem that I saw was related to the graphics
driver. DKMS probably didn't realize that there was a new kernel (since
the version numbers were almost the same) and didn't recompile the
kernel modules for the graphics drivers.
