I happen to know that SUNWsmbfs (now system/filesystem-smb) requires SUNWuiui (now system/library/iconv/utf-8) because it calls iconv_open("UTF-8", "UCS-2"), etc. This dependency was previously expressed correctly in: usr/src/pkgdefs/SUNWsmbfsu/depend I don't see it anywhere in here: usr/src/pkg/manifests/system-file-system-smb.mfI don't think pkgdepend(1) can detect this, so I guess I'll need to add a line to the ...smb.mf file, right? Which bugster cat/subcat is appropriate for this?
If a smb category doesn't feel right, can always do consolidation/os-net-pkgs.
Were all explicit dependencies like this dropped during the IPS cut-over? If so, there may be more cases like this.
Yes -- the IPS team chose to move to automated dependencies, and we followed that path, rather than risk having many many unnecessary manual dependencies.
The packages that had proper dependencies and no superfluous ones were unfortunately the exception rather than the rule before.
