I happen to know that SUNWsmbfs (now system/filesystem-smb) requires SUNWuiui (now system/library/iconv/utf-8) because it calls iconv_open("UTF-8", "UCS-2"), etc. This dependency was previously expressed correctly in: usr/src/pkgdefs/SUNWsmbfsu/depend I don't see it anywhere in here: usr/src/pkg/manifests/system-file-system-smb.mfI don't think pkgdepend(1) can detect this, so I guess I'll need to add a line to the ...smb.mf file, right? Which bugster cat/subcat is appropriate for this? Were all explicit dependencies like this dropped during the IPS cut-over? If so, there may be more cases like this.
There will be missing dependencies; the error rate among the svr4 package dependencies was very high and we chose to ignore them during opensolaris development, instead focusing our efforts on developing better means of automated dependency analysis. This will become increasing important as we refactor the current packages to better support minimization. - Bart -- Bart Smaalders Solaris Kernel Performance [email protected] http://blogs.sun.com/barts "You will contribute more with mercurial than with thunderbird." _______________________________________________ on-ips-dev mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/on-ips-dev
