this makes it difficult for spammers to scrape the real mail addresses.

is annoying.
as Gary Lee pointed out[2], the Apache mail archive itself already makes
the raw content of mails including real mail addresses available to web
scrapers, for example [3].
thus i propose to disable the address mangling at Gmane.
If there are no objections to the above proposal within 72 hours then
I will invoke Lazy Consensus and proceed to implement the above
proposal.

is the 5th most active list today.
