We discussed enabling Google Analytics site-wide (within the project) several months ago. There was no consensus at that time to enable it. Some Apache projects use it and find it useful. Others don't use it at all. There are some privacy implications [1], and feelings vary on whether or not having Google Analytics enabled is a net good thing. Personally, I like it. But if we are to use it then we need to make sure our privacy policy / terms of use document reflects this. But until we've had that higher level discussion and agreement, I'd be more comfortable if we simply commented out or removed the tracking code for now.
