Hm.  This appears to work with the older package for FreeBSD 8.0-R (build 
167859).  I just built 2009.12.16/217847, and copy-paste & drag-and-drop are 
working.

You do have xf86-input-vmmouse and xf86-video-vmware installed, right?  (I'm 
still noticing a problem with the xf86-input-vmmouse driver relating to HAL.  
If 
you run "hal-get-property --udi /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/psm_0 --key 
input.x11_driver", do you see "mouse" or "vmmouse"?)
