Sadly, many software application packages, application setup programs (their 
developers) are still broken when it comes to using UNC paths as well.  If you 
put UNC paths in the system PATH, it might break something.  Even Microsoft 
themselves still has core code in some places that might break if you don't use 
drives.  Shame.
