A fileserver will detect its addresses on startup and will register those addresses with the VLDB; so if you just move the fileserver and start it, the VLDB will know about the new addresses. changeaddr can screw stuff up (though it's not going to cause ubik being weird like you're seeing) There is a new command, 'vos setaddrs', to change fileserver addresses in the VLDB without restarting them, but that's new in 1.5.
