The volume cloning does MANY file system operations i /vicep*/,
several for each file in the volume.

I'd say: Use a /vicep*/ file system that performs well on file create,
link and delete.

No, I don't have any hard numbers to show you and no time to correlate
some numbers on some vos move logfiles that I should have lying
around. But if someone wants to spend time analyze the numbers from my
logfiles, I would be happy to share some logs with you.
