I don't know, I'm just saying that's what I'd personally try since you're
saying if you add *any* code with that editor is screws things up. I'm all
about going back to plain vanilla and eliminating all the variables when I
troubleshoot, and that seems like a good place to start based on your
description of the problem.

But you're editing over the network, right? Again, just saying I'd edit
directly on the server itself to eliminate that variable. If the result is
the same then at least you know that isn't the problem.
