Could it just be that editing the file forced a recompile of the CFML
and the bytecode generated was different under the new build of
OpenBD?

Since Jason says he's seen similar behavior with other "identical"
code, I wonder if there was some change at the low-level in OpenBD
that may cause problems with existing bytecode and forcing a recompile
was sufficient to fix it?

(I don't know enough about OpenBD's compilation model to be sure but
it seems a plausible option to me, based on what Jason reports)
