There should be no porting required --- a quick simple rediret to your
page that creates the URL is all you need.
Without a plugin Jason, i doubt anyone will want to use it.
Bit.ly rocks because it doesn't get in the way of my surfing - and it
gives me stats on how many people have clicked on a URL.
