Hi Guys, Here are my Business rules that I have in mind with how to manage created redirects...
If not logged in and you create a redirect -given option to have info emailed to your account -redirect is immediately locked, not editable, won't change for life If logged in and you create a redirect -Will show up in your list of redirects -Can change the destination address -Can delete redirect -Redirect will lock as soon as someone else creates a redirect to the same destination (sharing the shortened url) -once locked, still shows up in list of url redirects on your account but can't edit or delete -can "disassociate" your account from locked redirect (show it won't show up again) Basically, if you aren't logged in, any redirect you create is immediately locked up, and as other people create redirects to the same destination, the same shortened url will be used. This is how bit.ly works. However, if you are logged in, any redirect you create is free for you to edit until someone else creates a redirect with a same destination, in which it is locked up. If you don't want this to happen, you can choose to make the redirect "unique" which will make the system create a new redirect entirely, even if the destination is the same. Make sense? At the surface, it works just like Bit.ly, but you get a bit more flexibility if you want it. -- Open BlueDragon Public Mailing List http://www.openbluedragon.org/ http://twitter.com/OpenBlueDragon mailing list - http://groups.google.com/group/openbd?hl=en !! save a network - please trim replies before posting !!
