Politics is part of every realistic human endeavour. Even when things don't make sense "technically" there is a compromise between survival and rigor at the beginning.
Especially when you have bigger fishes to cook, any annoyance is a reason to walk away from a particular technology, even when that technology is right and you are wrong.
