Well it's a standard format for any binary client that supports the binary
that BlazeDS emits. Which maybe is more than I'm aware of (since I'll be
the first to admit I quit paying attention to the Flex/Flash world probably
3+ years ago).

To put it in concrete terms you're right, it's compatible with anything
that knows what AMF is. Which is the Flash player and ... ? A handful of
other things? I have a vague recollection of someone doing some JS
libraries for it as well, and there's WebORB as an alternative producer of
AMF. Or as I said maybe I'm missing something, just seems still pretty
specific to the Flash player.

Once you get into discussions about things like BSON (binary JSON) my
interest is a lot more piqued. But all our world views are slanted I
suppose. ;-)
