I've tried using the developer contacts listed in OpenCA without success, so I'm hoping a post here will bring better results.
Would you consider opening up and allowing a few more contributors to the project? I'd like to start with just correcting some of the English (GB) version for grammar and spelling in both the documentation and the user interface screens (primarily the templates). I have to do this before I could allow users to even see the interfaces, so why not do it in a way that benefits the project? I like the product and there has obviously been a great deal of work and effort into it, but it really should be a true opensource project. Some things that might help would be: 1. A true wiki - allowing authorized users to make changes (you can always revert). 2. A source management system consistent with current open-source development teams. 3. Allowing/encouraging other developers to contribute corrections and enhancement (subject to a formal approval process, of course) I would be glad to help you get there if you're interested. Some suggestions for consideration: 1. Bring the wiki up to the current version of media-wiki. 2. Put the rights protections on (I wrote and or maintain most of them, including lockdown, NSFileRepo), as well as new user notification and notifyall when a change is made, not to mention the Captcha stuff to avoid spam/annoyances. This would encourage others to contribute while you would still maintain control of the information. You may also want to consider using the PDF generation stuff and even putting/converting the final documentation into MediaWiki. 3. Move the existing projects into github - this would again allow you to expand the developer base (I'd love to go in and fix the multitude of typos/language issues on the pages). Again - you'd retain control by managing the merges, but others could suggest and actually make patches. I'd be glad to help you through this and provide the documentation. I may be a newcomer to OpenCA, but I'm a long-time open source developer (I have core-commit access to both MediaWiki and Linux Kernal). This stuff takes time, and you would still maintain complete control, but I'd be glad to do a lot of the grunt work for you. Jack D.
