Hi Ben,
The biggest hurdle with implementing openexr in cameras is supporting
the format
in hardware on the camera. While I think many would agree that it would
be a great option to have as a camera output format, it's still
designed mostly
for a vfx pipelines rather than as an acquisition format. The other
consideration
is that with a raw workflow, you have to do the bayer reconstruction which
would be a point to output openexr without having to implement openexr
compression schemes in hardware.
