Rafiu,

Thanks for your swift response! I have rebuilt the test system so many times
in Vmware that I had not run yum update on this build! So looks like it was
my fault :-$

I can now access the snapshot pages. It maybe that if Volume Shadow copy
works from Windows 2003 to an ISCSI target then we may not need the
Snapshot, but would be nice to test it :)

I am currently evaluating if we could use this software to extend the use of
our File servers (Windows 2003) to add ISCSI drives. Or go down the route of
setting up a filer as SMB/CIFS device and migrate the user data to this. In
an ideal world I would have more Linux servers than Windows servers, but I
can see that your open filer product might stop the need for adding extra
Windows servers by adding capacity to existing servers. It would be useful
if you could email me some information on support charges for educational
establishments. As if we decide to adopt openfiler I would be happy to
support the project.

I have tried to recreate the problem of not being able to delete the
container volume (it was empty) but have had no further issues.

Regards,

Tim

Thanks for your kind comments. Mind if we quote you on them :)?

Was it the container volume group that could not be deleted or the actual
logical volume exported as iSCSI? Please see whether you're able to
replicate the problem....

Have you run "yum update" as root after the installation? You need to do
this in order to get the latest package set. Then a reboot after the yum
update process is complete will be required. Two things were missing from
the original distribution that are essential to snapshots working
properly: target kernel and lvm userland fixes.

If you are using Openfiler in a commercial setting, you might want to
consider signing up for a subscription -- this helps you keep you systems up
to date at all times and helps with furthering the project to new heights.

Kind regards,

Rafiu.
