Hi, Came across openfiler the other day so I thought I would give it a go - I was very impressed.
I know it’s a beta but there are a couple of issues that I have had huge problems with: Running it on ESX server requires the BusLogic (or patched LSI) drivers to be installed - not a great problem, however when I ran yum update it downloaded a new kernel, complained about the BusLogic module not being in it but went away updated my system anyway. On next reboot it wouldn’t find the scsi boot disk (surprise!). Anyway, long story short it took a lot of hunting around to get it working again. I still havnt got the smp kernel working tho :-( Time sync - this appears to be critical to getting AD integration/Kerberos working yet there is no way of setting up ntpd and your own timesource from the web interface. As X is not installed, I also cannot run vmware-toolbox. Which means that without ntpd running the clock drifts out within a few minutes (its an esx thing - but it highlights the need for ntp (or x)!). Also - is there any performance tweeks that can be made to the ISCSI target (cache etc)? It appears to run pretty slow in the basic testing I have done so far.
