Hi Joe Snapshots used to work for iSCSI but I recall Rafiu saying that they weren't supported and would probably be disabled until they were tested fully. Not sure if this was ever done though so it may just be exporting that's lacking from the GUI. My primary motivation for this is it would be awesome to be able to schedule daily snapshots (or a single one that's just overwritten) and have it exported to a backup server so you can backup without fear of open files etc.
I can understand not having GCC etc installed by default for an "appliance" type device, but what would be useful is a developer version of the ISO's that includes a full build environment -----Original Message----- From: Joe Landman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, 8 December 2006 3:07 p.m. To: Dave Watkins Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [OF-users] Wishlist for 2.3 Hi Dave: Dave Watkins wrote: > Hi All > > I thought I'd post some thoughts on things I'd love to see in 2.3, just > in case the developers don't have enough on their plates ;). > > Snapshots of iSCSI volumes as well as export control of those snapshots Hmmm... I thought they already exist (the snapshots). Export control may be harder ... > > Bonding management, as well and better overall network management (jumbo > frames on/off etc, set ip address, dns servers, gateway etc). I haven't crafted my script yet for bonding (waiting on this, unless there is interest from the OF folks). What I would like to get is enough of the gcc bits in so when we need to build a driver for some reason we don't have to start with a full rpath install somewhere ... (I have a vmware session set up for this now). -- Joseph Landman, Ph.D Founder and CEO Scalable Informatics LLC, email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] web : http://www.scalableinformatics.com phone: +1 734 786 8423 fax : +1 734 786 8452 or +1 866 888 3112 cell : +1 734 612 4615 _______________________________________________ Openfiler-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openfiler.com/mailman/listinfo/openfiler-users
