Thanks for the forthright post.
I apologise for spelling your name incorrectly.
We are adding a link to the spirit homepage http://www.euspirit.org to
link to the LinuxMedNews project list. It was an oversight not to
include it, but the list was only created yesterday, so you were not
missing for long. The Spirit site officially opens in June, although
some services will be made available before then. The current page is
just a simple page containing basic project information. The "Links"
button will not have the same function as the site evolves.
The Spirit partners are: Minoru (FR), Conecta (IT) and Sistema (IT).
The recent call for partners by our firm was for another potential
project unrelated to Spirit. There is no funding guaranteed for this
project.
The Spirit plans will be published on the Spirit website within a couple
of weeks. We see the Spirit website as a complementary effort to
LinuxMedNews because the readership is different and the services are
different.
The Spirit portal is targeted at three very specific target groups. I'll
attempt a U.S. translation of who these groups are:
1) Health care informatics innovators: Research scientists in healthcare
computing and interested vendors and individuals.
2) Informatics policy makers: The folks who write the HIPPA and FDA
guidelines.
3) Regional care network management: Executives and managers of managed
care organizations.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the LinuxMedNews site seems aimed at a
young technical audience with an interest in health care technology and
open source.
Also, there is no budget or plans in the Spirit project to write news
articles about our community and this is the primary activity of
LinuxMedNews. There is a customizable portal page that will show
headlines from selected news feeds. I hope to include LinuxMedNews among
the choices, so this should generate traffic to your site. We will
generate our own news feeds related to new software releases in the
index, and other events on the site, but these are automated services.
I hope this helps explain things.
