Hi Jim,
  Just to show you how I read your postings with great interest and care
:-), I feel compelled to point out that GEHR and OIO are not merely
_theoretical systems_. 

In the case of OIO, it is "heavily grounded" by actual usage and daily
interactions with real clinicians and researchers from day one. In fact,
the implementation was motivated by a solid use-case and a robust
environment for testing!!
  So, I am agreeing with your view that useful systems must really be
used. However, I want to make sure that you are aware of the status of the
OIO system.
