<Disclaimer> I've never used ACS, but seen many discussions on
Content-Management Software lists. </Disclaimer>
I think there are two versions of ACS (the Ars Digita Community System)-
http://www.arsdigita.com/ - the commercial version - the software may be
open, but it depends on an Oracle Database
http://openacs.org/ - the fully open-source version, that uses PostgreSQL as
the DB
Unfortunately, the "fully open" version is a fairly new project, and is
still at pre-alpha stage, though it has great potential.
If you're looking for an open-source CMS, there's a good list (and a useful
discussion/mailinglist) at Camworld - http://www.camworld.com/cms/
Personally, I'd recommend Zope ( www.zope.org ) and especially Medzope (
www.medzope.org ), which is designed to provide Content Management software
specifically for medical/healthcare users ...but I'm biased! ;-)
