Spirit is intended to be a single point of aggregation for a vertical
community, and offers a lot (including a sourceforge based system, that is
in beta test now). The fact is that there is no alternative to sourceforge
at the moment, as tigris does not offer the necessary facilities and no
other real alternative exist. Given the sheer complexity of the SF code
(and several bugs in there) it may be better to start with a completely
different project, but it is :
- a long term effort
- it needs a lot of people
Sourceforge was ideal for the Spirit project, given the constraints on
time and budget.
