In certain contexts, some limits on customizability are needed for safety reasons. Take a case worker with limited screen size in the field -- there should be no customization that eliminates or reduces to illegibility an alert field.

More suble is the question of "Work flow vs thought flow" (I'm only guessing what that means, but it sounds cool) and whether customizability has a medical impact.
