Thank you, Quanah for the clear description.

I'm not sure if the problem is in syncprov or accesslog (the two 
overlays touched by the patch for ITS 8281).  I do believe that the 
patch for ITS 8281 is the cause (since the problem goes away if that 
patch is removed).

How can I help at this point?
