Yeah, that's what I saw in the Flash documentation on Adobe's website.

Precisely, there is a method that allows to set the silencing
threshold and timeout: microphone.setSilenceLevel(silenceLevel:Number,
[timeOut:Number])
I guess I could add the settings to the config.xml file and get them
parsed and used in the App... or do some dirty hacking and hardcode
the value need in the source.
