Hi Joaquin,

question:
- why do you want to write your own network management?

OpenNMS is a great tool, there are years and years of developement behind it.
If you want to write a good network management system, just join the community
and help to improve OpenNMS instead of writing something new.

You are welcome to join in, and there are a lot of ideas how we can further
improve opennms. Probably you have also some ideas, as you are looking for
another GUI. Just look for the enhancement bugs provided from all the users.
This might give you an idea of how many work it is to write something as good
as opennms.

I don't think starting another project is a good idea. There are already too
many projects available, and if we split our work we won't achieve as much as
if we are working together.

- Michael

Betreff: [opennms-devel] Extended OpenNMS core

Hello, I am a new user.

I would like to create my own NMS, starting from something already developed
and open source.

I did some research and I have restricted my choice to two open source projects
including OpenNMS.

Can I use OpenNMS to create my NMS?

If I can use it, what OpenNMS can be integrated with other basic functionality?
That is, there are APIs can write code directly into the core of OpenNMS?

For example I take only the core of OpenNMS and create my own UI? Create my
alert management?

I thank as of now the answers and the availability of each of you.
