I'm not sure why you're having connection error issues. Does this happen every 
time you execute the upgrade tools ?

Of course, because the upgrade tools stops when something is wrong, like the 
UNKN error, but all the interfaces that were updated remain updated.

Well, if you don't mind to upload to our FTP server (ftp://ftp.opennms.org) a 
binary dump of the DB, a .tar.gz of /opt/opennms/etc and /var/opennms/rrd, I 
can invest time trying to reproduce the problem locally ....

Probably a small gap on the graph if OpenNMS updates the file while the upgrade 
tools is still working and then replace the same file.
