I recommend strongly against Saleae, because the original Saleae Logic is an utter ripoff. They overcharge like crazy for (literally) a textbook FX2 design and the development of a severely limited closed source Windows software. The probes are also quite low quality. Support open source friendly companies and products instead, in the logic analyzer market that's e.g. http://www.asix.net/ who make the SIGMA2 devices. The manufacturer is, unlike many others, supportive of the http://sigrok.org/ open source project. If you are on a tight budget then you can buy one of the many FX2 boards off eBay for under 15 USD and use it with sigrok and sigrok's fx2lafw firmware, for up to 24 MS/s 8 channel acqusition, albeit without external clock. That combination is unbeatable in price/performance, and I think infinitely better overall, since you can write whatever protocol decoders you want yourself, with just a little python. //Peter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Want fast and easy access to all the code in your enterprise?
