I'm not sure what you're referring to with "we have nothing for
rc3" (HEAD had progressed since rc2 tag).

Anyway, I have two pending patches, already sent for review,
regarding "real releases" (namely populating changelog and avoiding
git-describe on tarball). I'd like to hear comments and hopefully get
them committed before next rc.
