That's really strange. But I do not know anything about MacOS and its
video capabilities, so I cannot help you here.

That's even more strange. MPlayer is able to play the video under
Unix/X11 without problems and fully out-of-the-box. This seems to be a
local MacOSX problem of MPlayer.
