Dear all,

As Martin is announcing projects. I would like to point out some
priorities from a user point of view.

This is my own opinion and it does not interfere with Martin's projects.

* More Mac OS X and GNU/Linux frontends

Now that we have a reliable Feitian PKI card and token, we need good
frontends to allow users to forget about complex command lines.

It seems that Seahorse (Gnome) and Keychain (Apple) are the best
candidates to allow to manage smartcards.

Seahorse developers already received some cards, but they may need a
more direct help from OpenSC developers, just like GNUPG developers do.

* USB key support beyond CCID

It seems that MS Windows incorporates a mechanism which allows USB token
to work without driver. So there is probably a standard. It would be
nice to hear from that standard.

In my opinion, the smartcard market is today very small, probably the
same size as 10 years ago. This is due to the development of security
stores in Mac OS X and GNU/Linux, which make users believe that their
keys are secure. Of course, not.

IMHO, I would say that Seahorse is probably a priority for interested
developers. Only a good frontends can convince users to buy token in
mass and therefore lower cost.

Kind regards,
Jean-Michel
