I agree. It's a very strange decision. The author of that article contacted me for a response. I expect he'll publish it in the next few days. I'm very surprised in Ubuntu's decision. Hopefully as our community gets bigger and our product gets better, the public will demand OpenShot. That will be the day. =)
I use Gimp all the time. However, it is one of the more complicated apps in a default install, isn't it? But it would seem they need to replace it with at least a mid-level photo editor. F-spot seems more like a album organizing app, more than an editor. Oh well.. Olivier - I will be linking to your blog and Andy's new OpenShotUsers website soon.
