The Orkut application process is highly adhoc. We have had some
comments such as these -

"If you want to make an application about Indian movies, you should
include all Indian movies within the app,
not 11 random movies".

Is Orkut trying to prejudge the taste of its users vis-a-vis
applications. They are increasing the work for themselves as well as
for the application creators. A lot of effort goes into creating
applications, and random reasons like these do not help the cause of
anyone.

As long as the applications are adhering to the general guidelines and
do not have any objectionable content, they should be automatically
approved. Whether they are liked by the users or not should be left to
the users. If the application is not succesful, the owners of the
application will improve it or will pull it out.

Why is Orkut taking trying to take the burden of advising application
creators what type of applications they should create?

Frustrated @ Orkut.
