The proposal for this project, as originally mailed at the start of this thread, and posted at http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/arc/caselog/2006/550/materials/proposal/ states that all of libcmd will be Project Private, thus nothing outside of the ksh93 binaries shipped with this project will be using it, and nothing other than them needs to be modified if libcmd is renamed. If there are any incompatibilities with software outside this project introduced by renaming libcmd, then the proposal is incorrect and should not have called libcmd Project Private. The ARC can't be expected to know that any incompatibilities would be introduced when the materials presented by the project team state otherwise. It's clear that what the project team understands about libcmd and what is conveyed to the ARC about libcmd in the proposal aren't quite in sync, and that's lead to most of the argument here, leaving everyone confused. > I think this these are clear words from someone who did lots of work > and investigation on ksh93 in Solaris and I am supporting this > decision. It would be good to have, and we're happy to work with Roland & David & Glenn to make it happen, so lets try to keep it civil. -- -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersmith at sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering
