EOF of msm and logi bus mouse modules ------------------------------------- ON currently has drivers that reputedly support Microsoft Bus Mouse (msm) and Logitech Bus Mouse (logi) devices. However, as far as anyone knows, nobody has used either of these devices with Solaris in quite a long time. The bus mice used add-in ISA cards that are unlikely to be usable on any system capable of running Nevada. Additionally, nobody within Sun seems to have hardware to test these devices anymore. Even the Xorg drivers for these devices are reportedly untested -- its likely that the last time either of these devices was tested was with Xsun which we no longer deliver on x86 platforms. Finally, all modern systems support either PS/2 or USB mice. (Some fairly ancient systems use serial mice or type 5 style sun mice, but EOF'ing of either of those is probably a good topic for another case. This one just deals with logi and msm.) We'd like to EOF these drivers from Solaris Nevada. We don't believe this will have any negative impact on anyone -- the only impact should be the positive result of removing the driver binaries, man pages, and associated source code. We have no desire to release note this, because we simply don't believe that there is anyone who would even notice the removal. However, if either the ARC or the other committees (CTeam, Product team) requests we will provide a release note and advance notification in a Solaris 10 update release. 6.
