To my knowledge, the lack of support is largely a function of not having the time to polish and package the technology. It would be a great project if someone wanted to pursue stabilizing a set of public interfaces that other consolidations -- and 3rd parties -- could use to deliver their binaries with CTF data. Other benefits (to consumers) would include improved debuggability and (I believe) the ability to create DTrace fbt probes in your modules.
