Rafael, Either there is a gigantic memory leak somewhere in combination of the onnv_74 compiled operating environment and Sun Studio 11, or Sun Studio 12 should really really not be used to compile gates. Please have a look here: http://opensolaris.pastebin.ca/719938 As you can see, I have a system with 2GB or RAM and around 2GB of swap space. All services are either disabled or not running, so all memory consumption is done by the gate compile. I really can't recall my compiles to eat up all my memory and swap. Maybe it's a good thing to mention on onnv community site not to use Sun Studio 12 at all, looking at the current behavior. For me it doesn't really matter, I tried Sun Studio 12 to witness the side effects for myself, so I was asking for it (crazy but true) but someone else who reads it "may give problems" (directly quoted from http://www.opensolaris.org/os/downloads/on/) might still consider using Sun Studio 12 and give it a shot rather than going trough the (what one might call) hassle of installing Sun Studio 11. Of course we'll know more once I get the gate to compile with SS11, but as far as I can tell now I'll have to reinstall my machine to get rid of this unstable mess. Please don't see this as a complaint mail, it is not. I want to get more involved with (open)solaris and that's exactly why I do things that might brick my machine so I can give you feedback :) Take care, Patrick _______________________________________________ opensolaris-code mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/opensolaris-code
