Maybe a follow on would be to look into tools like info2man[1] to do a
conversion.  The author of info2man has a customized man[2] command
that will automatically convert info pages and present them as
expected. I've never tried this tool or explored areas where this
approach breaks.

I've noticed that.  It's kinda like having the download instructions
for acroread only available in PDF.
