I'd like to ask if there is a recommended Code Management System for
OpenSolaris.
Solaris is shipped with "sccs" (/usr/ccs/bin/sccs), and inside Sun all Solaris
sources
are under SCCS. We use Sun's CodeManager (also known as TeamWare) as primary
Code Management System for Solaris development, and for many other projects
inside Sun. What about external developers? What do we recommend them to use?
Technically it is easy to provide free CodeManager binaries for OpenSolaris
developers.
That topic came up a number of times, but consensus was never reached.
While it may be possible to make TW bins available for community it
still will not be enough since TW is not Internet friendly today.
So the options were
1. enhance TW to be Internet aware.
2. use some other SCM system.
a. CVS
b. SVN(+SVK)
c. some other solution
There are pros and cons for both 1 and 2.
I am not sure whether archives keep all the previous discussions
or it was cut out before launch.
My personal preference is to use subversion and the repository is
already available at svn://svn.genunix.org.

P.S.: For those who want to know what is TeamWare, there are good docs
on web, for example:

http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/802-5953
