In some cased (e.g. ksh) I would not call it "retaining" but
achieving compatibility, because you cannot be compatible
to software that is not part of OpenSolaris.

The work to achive compatibility needs to be done by Sun employees
in this case.

No, OpenSolaris is the base and you may only talk about things
being the same if they are part of both sosftware systems.

If you only use the word "OpenSolaris" when talking about
software that is actually part of OpenSolaris, I have no problem.
Unfortunately, many people don't do this and talk about things that
are only part of Sun Solaris but use the term "OpenSolaris".
