Apart from static compiling (tut tut), does anyone have any real examples of 
something an application could do on for example SunOS2.5 that will not work on 
OpenSolaris/Solaris10/Solaris11.

Could people of linked with private symbols that no longer exist?

Anything would be interesting, this is one reason i think Solaris is awesome in 
comparison to Linux. The Linux mentality is that if your app doesn't work 
recompile! Hell Torvalds himself is happy to break things in the kernel that 
could break happy applications. (e.g. sendfile fd->fd doesn't work when it used 
to.)
