Hello all;
I have always wondered why Sun's default value for maxphys is only 128Kbyte.
In these days of EMC and other fibre related storages, it seemingly does
not make sense.
This above is especially so when sd_max_xfer_size is set to 1 Mbyte by
default.
Shouldn't the above values all be equal to ensure better IO efficiency?
I've read several documentations on the net and the values I always set
for systems I install are;
in /etc/system
set maxphys=8388608
in sd.conf and ssd.conf
sd_max_xfer_size=0x800000
If the system has Veritas, I would also do
set vxio:vol_maxio= 8192
If the system uses SVM/SDS; then
set md_maxphys = 8388608
I would really appreciate feedback on the above values.
Warmest Regards
Steven Sim
