Besides, be careful; there are worse folks than Adobe. Isn't MS introducing
a new format that they want to replace PDF with?
XPS; according to their website; all the specifications are open, and
the licence is royalty free - anyone can implement it if they wish; I
think the issue won't be the immediate, but whether in the future
they'll continue to release specifications, even after they get a
sizable share of the marketplace - that is the biggest risk.
Then again, what is the choice? you have Adobe, the Nigel no mate of
the software industry who is anti-social - basically a spoilt child
with a chip on his sholder, or there is Microsoft, the over weight kid
of the play ground who can't stand the idea of the attention not being
on him.
