Yeah, sickening, isn't it? :-) > Isn't that the same guy who once called his U60's a set of "real computers"?! > Just back in early 2005 or late 2004, if not later? Oh, my Ultra 60, E220R, and Sun Blade 1000 are still Real Computers! But the price/performance allure of the Ferrari (and my Ultra 20) was too great to ignore. > And then you go on and make a sparc laptop a bad machine ? Hey, I *really* wanted to buy a SPARC laptop a year ago. Really, really. But there was no way I could justify the exhorbitant price for a decently speced unit. I think something with a fast US-IIIi processor was about $10K, and it only came with 802.1b Wifi (i.e., the slow one) and had other drawbacks. Compared to the Ferrari 3400, which cost me about $3K after I maxed out the RAM at 2 GB and replaced the crappy hard drive with a 7300 RPM one, the SPARC laptop was a nonstarter. I'm a SPARC bigot (still), but even when I was working (which I'm not at the moment) I didn't have THAT much cash to burn. As for making SPARC laptops bad machines, you need to look at the manufacturers of said devices... If Tadpole and/or Next wanna give me a top of the line laptop, I'd be happy to review it! > Rich, I'm really really disappointed of you ;) > And this happened almost a year ago and I did't even notice ... *Sigh* I feel all dirty now; I gotta take a bath! :-) -- Rich Teer, SCNA, SCSA, OpenSolaris CAB member President, Rite Online Inc.
