That could be an idea. I don't see any problems to run JDS tarballs on Nexenta... but what value will it bring over what we have today? I think the issue peter concerned is not related JDS or Nexenta's GNOME, its generic. We've patched Sound Juicer to recognize CD-ROM using old and naive cdrecord scan, but it requires root permissions, so it executes via sudo. Instead, we are missing HAL integration... lets wait till Tamarack is out, so this and many other issues will go.
