May I suggest that you go and experience the BrandZ project (http://opensolaris.org/os/community/brandz)? It allows you to create a Linux zone on a Solaris box, inside of which you can run linux binaries without modification. Sun has put significant development resources into this project, which is aimed directly at Linux users.
