1. Usable version of the Polaris (Solaris for PPC port) - Not at the level of a
"distro" or true "boot disk" as there is more work needed. Yet, several people
(i.e. Cyril, Dennis Clarke, Tom Riddle, others) have demoed Polaris so it does
exist in some perspective. GCC toolchains are being updated.

2. Sun Studio vs. GCC - This is something you need to ready the LATEST info on
to get a better view on the status of Sun Studio. Sun Studio 8->11 are obsolete
viewpoints on this subject. Look at the latest Sun Studio Express.

3. Projects like 'Win4Solaris' or virtual emulators/environments have been in
the works for some time to run several OSes on various CPU architectures. There
is even a nice blog by the "ThinGuy" on the concept of WinXP running in a
environment on Solaris x86 (imagine it being on Solaris SPARC with an x86
virtual emulator or use of an AMD64 daughterboard).

I like the point someone made on if you do certain things you help the
competitor sell their hardware and software faster... not you.... oh-oh...
