Then that's a change you're proposing, because it's not happened in the
past - and I don't see why Sun marketing would play that role for
OpenSolaris, just for Solaris.
Why not? Isn't OpenSolaris a "product" that has a "market", and don't we
need to make sure we're addressing the right market? In my experience,
the most successful open source projects are the ones that are managed like
products (GNOME, Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.). The ones that lose their way
(Debian ahem) are the ones that just sort of evolve without much of a plan.
Sure - and Sun marketing is free to provide input there - what I really
meant was that Sun marketing wouldn't have exclusive, final say, just be
another voice in a community forum that hasn't yet really been formed.
(As you can see, opensolaris-discuss is a poor forum for such talk.)
